My artistic process is four fold, each step requiring a different skill set, and each satisfying different areas of my psyche.
Identify - The first phase is to Identify a subject. Sometimes this is done through planning and more often than not, serendipitously. The most important part of this step is to take action.
Capture - The second step of the process is the most basic and most difficult; Capture. The image I record must contain all of the physical elements I envision in the finished picture and while, many tweaks can be made in the Process step, the original capture cannot be preformed haphazardly. I use Nikon D850 and D800 cameras and a set of 6 lenses of various lengths to capture.
Post Process – I initially capture my images as RAW files which affords me the maximum amount of adjustment (lighting, color, etc). The images are initially processed as RAW files, and then saved as JPEG files where I crop and perform final adjustments. Photoshop Elements is used for Post Processing.
Printing - While this seems rather straightforward, this step can be challenging. The first part of the step is choose the paper. There are a myriad of different papers to choose from and each will affect the print differently. Regardless of how well the printer is in sync with the monitor, I find that I typically print 4-5 versions (sometimes more) before I'm satisfied with the results.
